Hey lovely readers! πŸ’›

Thank you so much for staying with me on this journey. This chapter is one of my favorites - it blends friendship, unexpected meetings, and that slow-burn tension we all secretly live for! Kyle and Victoria really begin to shine here, and Rose finds herself navigating feelings she's not ready to admit.

So, grab a cup of coffee, settle in, and let's dive into the chaos, charm, and confusion of it all.

The next morning came with a wave of fresh hope. As planned, Victoria arrived at Rose's home, honking excitedly from the driveway.

"Girl, rush! We're already late for our appointment!" Victoria called out from the car, tapping impatiently on the steering wheel.

"I'm coming! Geez, give me two minutes!" Rose shouted back, sprinting down the stairs.

Five minutes later, they were on the road, music blasting through the speakers. Both of them sang loudly, their laughter echoing over the hum of the engine.

"So, what's the plan for today?" Rose asked, fixing her sunglasses.

"First, salon. Then shopping. Then dinner. Ultimate stress detox!" Victoria grinned.

"Sounds like a plan!"

At the mall entrance, a crowd had gathered, murmuring and pointing, cameras flashing.

"Must be some public figure," Rose muttered. "Let's go inside."

"Yeah, you go ahead. I'll park and join you," Victoria said, steering toward the parking lot.

A few moments later-

Kyle, who had been casually passing by, froze the moment he saw her. Victoria was effortlessly reversing into a parking spot with one hand on the wheel, the other casually gesturing at the side mirror. His chest tightened.

"Hey... need some help finding a private spot?" he called out, his voice a mix of charm and nervousness, unable to hide the flutter in his heart.

Victoria glanced at him, unimpressed, one eyebrow raised. "Unless you're valet-certified, buzz off."

Kyle blinked, taken aback by her confidence. "Wow... reversing with one hand and still perfect. I... uh, okay, I'll just-" He waved awkwardly, utterly smitten.

> Three hours slipped by in a haze of curling irons, whispered secrets, and bursts of laughter. When they were finally done, Victoria stretched with exaggerated flair, and Rose tilted her head, teasing, "What took you so long?"

"Ugh, don't even ask! Some guy tried to flirt with me in the parking lot. I shut him down real fast," she said, rolling her eyes.

Rose burst out laughing. "I can totally imagine that! What did he do, trip over his words?"

Victoria giggled, nudging her. "Something like that. Now come on, before we get lost in this madness - let's hit a boutique before the crowd swallows us whole."

The two friends laughed again, linking arms as they stepped out, ready to dive into the next adventure.

Meanwhile, in another corner of the mall-

"Bro, are you sure she's here?" Kyle asked, scanning the crowd.

"I had someone follow her. She's nearby-I can feel it," Noah replied confidently.

"Alright, you go back to your event. I'll keep looking."

Two hours later, just outside the boutique, Kyle spotted them.

"Found her!" he whispered, making his way over.

"Hey! We meet again," Kyle said with a grin.

Victoria narrowed her eyes. "Are you kind of following me?!" she snapped, clearing her throat and crossing her arms.

"Relax, feisty," the guy said, hands up in surrender. "I'm just helping my brother."

Rose stepped forward, a small smile on her face. "Vic, it's fine. He's harmless... sort of."

The guy grinned at Rose. "Alright, I give up. No harm intended."

Rose chuckled softly. "By the way, he's actually Kyle... Noah's brother."

Victoria blinked, shocked. "Wait-what? The Noah Meddex?"

Rose nodded. "Yep. But don't let him know you just yet."

Kyle gasped dramatically. "Ouch! That hurts. You're exposing me!"

Rose giggled. "What a coincidence! How's Noah?"

Kyle shrugged. "Doing better. He's here, actually. Come on, I'll take you to him."

Rose said softly, "Oh no, I wouldn't want to interrupt."

"He's waiting for you," Victoria added quietly, glancing at Kyle.

Kyle insisted, "He said something about wanting to thank you personally."

Victoria smirked and looked at Rose, and they shared a moment as if they were talking through their eyes.

After a pause, Rose finally said, "Okay, let's go."

As they walked toward the restaurant, Kyle kept glancing at Victoria.

"You know, you're really good at ignoring my charm. Most girls fall for this smile instantly."

"Shocking. Maybe they just pitied you."

Kyle gasped dramatically. "Cold-blooded. If we were in a rom-com, you'd be the sassy best friend who secretly likes the hero."

"And you'd be the annoying side character who gets hit by a shopping cart in the first ten minutes."

Rose couldn't help laughing. "You two are impossible."

Inside the restaurant...

Noah stood as they approached. "Hey. It's good to see you. I know I was a jerk earlier. I'm sorry."

"It's alright. How are you feeling now?" Rose asked gently.

"Better. Thanks to you. Order whatever you like - it's on me. My treat for saving my life."

As the meal progressed, the four of them shared small talk, jokes, and subtle glances.

Kyle, leaning toward Victoria, whispered, "I didn't get your number last time. Oversight, maybe?"

She rolled her eyes. "Intentional, definitely."

"Ouch. Okay, what if I earned it with dessert?"

"Buy me five cheesecakes and maybe I'll think about giving you a fake number."

"Progress! I'll take what I can get." Kyle beamed.

Rose leaned back in her chair, a small smile tugging at her lips as she watched Kyle and Victoria bicker over something trivial-herded by their own playful stubbornness. Victoria shot him a mock glare, Kyle grinned cheekily, and Rose felt a warmth bloom in her chest. Their little fight, so small and harmless, was oddly comforting, and she couldn't help but admire the easy rhythm between them.

Her mind drifted, memories of her past creeping in-the times she had watched similar playful arguments unfold in her own family, times when life had felt lighter, happier, and safe. She felt a pang of longing, a reminder that she had once known peace like this, before heartbreak had taught her caution.

ROSE'S THOUGHTS:

Trying not to think, but the voices inside her never stop...

They whisper she's not enough, that no one will ever truly love her.

She wears a smile so no one sees the battle raging inside -

So they won't pity her... heal her... only to break her again.

Each day she says she's over him.

Each day, something reminds her she isn't.

She thought she was his... but he was never hers.

Every time she opened her heart, he made sure she regretted it.

And still, she loved him more than she loved herself.

Unaware of how long she'd been zoning out, Rose finally blinked and realized Noah's eyes were fixed on her. His gaze wasn't sharp or critical-it was soft, filled with quiet admiration, concern, and something she couldn't quite name. He noticed the faraway look in her eyes, the subtle confusion on her face, and the way she seemed caught between memory and the present.

Victoria, ever perceptive, followed her friend's line of sight and saw Noah's quiet attention. She nudged Rose gently. "Hey! Earth to Rose! You're spacing out again. Don't get lost in thoughts, someone's watching."

Rose flushed, her mind snapping back. She chuckled nervously, aware now that Noah's gaze hadn't left her for a second.

"Sorry... I was just thinking."

Victoria smirked knowingly. "Yeah, 'just thinking.' Sure, Rose."

Noah's faint smile lingered as Rose tried to shake off the moment. For the first time in a long while, she realized that in the middle of her chaotic life, someone was paying attention to her, really seeing her, and that thought left her both startled and strangely comforted.

As they stood to leave...

Victoria nudged Rose again, laughing softly at Kyle's exaggerated gestures and playful remarks. Rose couldn't help but admire how effortlessly Kyle and Victoria sparked joy in each other, contrasting sharply with the chaos in her own heart.

Outside the restaurant, Kyle called out, "So about those cheesecakes..."

Victoria replied without looking, "Make it six. And stop following me."

"What if I like chasing difficult women?"

"What if I like pepper spray?" she shot back with a grin.

Kyle clutched his heart dramatically. "This is love."

As they stepped onto the bustling street, Rose was about to turn toward the car when someone suddenly bumped into her. She staggered, almost losing her balance.

> She swayed, teetering, and before she could tumble, his arm slid around her waist, pulling her firmly against him. His other hand found the back of her head, fingers threading into her hair in a protective cradle, steadying her as his warmth and scent wrapped around her like a heartbeat-soft safety net.

"You're... okay?" a deep, soft voice murmured, close enough that she could feel the vibration.

Rose's heart raced. Slowly, she realized who it was-Noah. The world around them seemed to blur for a heartbeat as they stood there, wrapped in an unspoken connection, silent yet electric, as if they had both found a strange sort of home in that embrace.

The moment stretched, delicate and unhurried. Rose felt warmth spread through her, a mix of safety and confusion, her face turning slightly pink.

Then, from a few steps away, Kyle's voice rang out. "Hey! Can we move already? I don't think this is a romantic drama set in slow motion!"

Startled, Rose pulled back, finally regaining her senses. Her face flushed deeper as she glanced at Noah, who gave a faint, almost amused smile but didn't pull away.

"I... uh... bye!" she stammered, grabbing Victoria's hand and tugging her along. Victoria, wide-eyed but grinning, hurried after her as they disappeared into the crowd.

Noah watched them go, his gaze lingering on the retreating figures, the soft echo of her presence clinging to him long after she had vanished from sight.

Once Rose and Victoria disappeared into the crowd, Noah's gaze snapped toward Kyle, sharp and piercing.

"You're unbelievable," Noah muttered, his eyes darkening with restrained irritation.

Kyle, oblivious to the seriousness of the stare, grinned mischievously, clearly enjoying Noah's flustered expression. "What? You look like someone just stole your dessert," he teased, nudging Noah lightly.

Noah's jaw tightened, cheeks tinged with red, but he said nothing, merely crossing his arms as if trying to contain himself.

Kyle continued, mockingly dramatic. "Oh, I see... that little blush? Priceless. Should I autograph it before it fades?"

Noah shot him a warning look, but Kyle only laughed, clearly thriving on his brother's rare flustered state. The tension between them was playful, teasing, yet hinted at the deeper bond of brothers who knew each other far too well.

Back at Rose's home, they found a note on the table:

> We know you girls had a good time, but remember to come home early every day. We had to leave for a trip. Victoria, your parents have been informed. Please speak to them. Take care, girls. - Mom & Dad

"I mean I don't mind them being around, but... we're alone," Rose blinked.

"Let's bash it!" Victoria grinned.

Sarah appeared just then. "Good evening, Ms. Clair. Madam and Sir have instructed me to assist you both while they're away. Dinner is ready. Let me know when to serve."

"Thanks, Sarah. You can rest - we'll call you."

Later that night, the girls made their way up to the terrace - their favorite spot. The stars stretched out above them, silent witnesses to a growing bond, unresolved emotions, and the calm after every storm.

Rose sighed, leaning back against the railing. "I can't believe how crazy today was... it's like every moment had a plot twist waiting for me."

Victoria smirked, nudging her shoulder. "Plot twist? You mean that part when someone conveniently 'saved' you from falling?"

Rose froze, cheeks heating up, and Victoria burst into laughter. "Oh, don't even try to deny it! That hug-you were practically melting in his arms! Admit it, Rose, you were flustered."

Rose swatted playfully at her friend, still embarrassed. "I... it was... I didn't-"

"You didn't what? Enjoy it?" Victoria teased, wiggling her eyebrows. "Because trust me, I saw the whole thing. Red cheeks, shaky hands-the works. Priceless!"

Rose groaned, burying her face in her hands. "Vic! You are impossible!"

Victoria laughed, looping her arm through Rose's. "Impossible? Maybe. But today? Today was fun, chaotic, and a little... magical. Don't act like you didn't feel it too."

Rose peeked through her fingers, meeting Victoria's playful gaze, and couldn't help but smile. "Okay, maybe a little..."

Victoria grinned knowingly. "A little is still something. Don't worry, your secret's safe with me... for now."

The two girls sat quietly for a moment, letting the cool night air and twinkling stars wash over them, hearts lighter, laughter lingering, and the memory of that unexpected hug leaving Rose with a warmth she couldn't quite shake.

> Rose still leaned back against the railing, the faint warmth of Noah's hands lingering on her skin. Her heart refused to settle, skipping at the memory of that fleeting embrace. The world around her seemed quieter now, the chaos of the day replaced by the soft whisper of the night breeze.

Noah's presence lingered in her thoughts, and she found herself imagining his soft gaze, the way his eyes searched for her even in the crowd. Her chest tightened as she realized how much she wanted him to notice her, not just see her.

"Hey," a familiar voice whispered behind her. Rose's head snapped up, but it was only Victoria, smirking knowingly.

"Don't tell me you're thinking about him again," Victoria teased, nudging her shoulder.

Rose turned slightly away, cheeks heating. "I... maybe," she admitted softly, her voice barely above the rustle of the night air.

Victoria grinned, but her teasing softened. "He's noticed you too, Rose. You should see the way he looks at you-like you're the only person in the world."

Rose's breath hitched at the thought, her fingers brushing against the railing as if grounding herself. She remembered Noah's hands, his quiet strength, and the way it had felt like coming home. A small, shy smile tugged at her lips.

"Maybe..." she whispered, letting herself imagine a world where moments like today weren't fleeting. A world where Noah's arms could be a place she always belonged.

The stars above twinkled like silent witnesses, and for the first time in a long while, Rose felt the flutter of hope intertwining with her heartache. Somewhere between laughter, stolen glances, and the warmth of that unexpected hug, a new chapter of possibilities had begun.

And though the night was still young, Rose knew one thing for certain-Noah had seen her. Truly seen her. And maybe, just maybe, she was ready to let him.
